Description
Harvested in the spring, this organic sencha stands out from other senchas with its sweeter notes. Obtained through a traditional steaming method, it offers a unique umami taste with smooth, sweet herbaceous and nutty notes. Sencha, one of the most well-known and consumed teas in Japan, is renowned for its herbaceous taste and aroma, clear color, and smooth taste. Thanks to these characteristics, it blends well with various spices, dried fruits, and essences and is frequently used in the creation of various blends.
After harvesting, the leaves are wilted and often heated to prevent oxidation. This preserves the chlorophylls that give the plant its green color, largely maintaining the green color and grassy taste that give the tea its name. The tea leaves are then rolled and dried, resulting in a milder taste and high antioxidant value due to the less demanding processing. It's a very appealing tea for those who enjoy the grassy, herbaceous taste of green tea. It's the most consumed type of tea in Japan. There are many varieties of Sencha green tea; its taste varies depending on the region where it's grown and the harvest season. The first harvest, encompassing April and May, is generally considered the most delicious Sencha.
