    Description

Silver Needle, translated from its Chinese name bai hao yin zhen, literally means "silver needles with white hair." White tea is the tea with the least caffeine among all teas. Silver Needle tea is a delicate tea that requires cooler water for brewing. Silver Needle is always considered superior to other white teas because it is of higher quality and/or more expensive. Silver Needle is just one of many white teas from China, but it is considered "the highest quality." So what exactly does this mean?

While most teas are made from both the buds and leaves of the tea plant, Silver Needle is made only from the buds. Tea buds, also called tips or needles, are the youngest part of the tea plant and are packed with beneficial substances. However, they are very small and extremely time-consuming to harvest. Thousands of buds are needed to make just one kilogram of Silver Needle tea.

The fact that it is only harvested in bud form is the reason why Silver Needle is so expensive and rarer than other white teas. In most cases, harvesting only these tiny buds is laborious. However, using only the buds produces an interesting result. The buds are the smallest and most valuable part of the tea plant because they will later develop into larger leaves.

Therefore, tea plants expend great effort to produce these buds and protect them from cold, stress, and pests. As a result, they contain the highest levels of the best substances found in tea: caffeine, theanine, and polyphenols. A good Silver Needle should be extremely vibrant, full of energy and flavor. While its flavor is on the milder side, it offers a subtle complexity; it may contain floral, fruity, herbaceous, grassy, and hay-like notes. Its texture ranges from light to medium-bodied; from a crisp and juicy structure to a slightly creamy and rounded feel. It is generally a smooth and elegant tea. With its energizing properties, it can offer an invigorating effect.

Benefits: Regular consumption of white tea can have positive effects in many areas, from skin health to heart health, from the immune system to weight management. Thanks to its high antioxidant content, it helps protect cells, can delay the effects of aging, and can support the body against chronic diseases. It contains components that support heart health, can help support the health of blood vessels and regulate blood pressure. Compounds called polyphenols can have a protective effect against cell damage.

    Ingredients: Pure white tea.

Brewing Technique: Add 2 teaspoons of this tea to 250 ml of hot water, let it steep for 4 minutes, and enjoy.

It weighs 50 grams, which yields approximately 30 cups.

Important note: A great thing about this tea is that you can brew the same amount twice. Brewing techniques vary for white teas. Brewing with water between 80 and 85 degrees Celsius will allow you to better appreciate the flavor. Remember that brewing with very high-temperature water can destroy the subtle flavors that remain in delicate leaves like white tea.
